Here is a list of conditions that warrant a visit to the emergency department:

1. Chest Pain: Sudden onset of chest pain, especially if it feels like pressure, squeezing, or fullness, could indicate a heart attack or other serious cardiac issues.

2. Difficulty Breathing: Experiencing shortness of breath, wheezing, or respiratory distress can signify a severe asthma attack, allergic reaction, or pulmonary embolism.

3. Severe Headache: A sudden, severe headache that feels different from a typical headache, often described as the worst headache ever, may indicate a stroke or aneurysm.

4. Uncontrolled Bleeding: Any injury that leads to significant blood loss, or a wound that doesn't stop bleeding after applying pressure for 10 minutes, requires immediate medical attention.

5. Signs of Stroke: Symptoms including sudden numbness in the face, arms, or legs (especially on one side), confusion, difficulty speaking, or loss of coordination should be addressed at an emergency room promptly.

6. Trauma/Injury: Any serious injury from an accident, fall, or violence, especially if there are fractures, head injuries, or deep lacerations.

7. Severe Abdominal Pain: Intense abdominal pain that is sudden, accompanied by other symptoms like vomiting, fever, or gastrointestinal bleeding requires urgent investigation.

8. Severe Allergic Reaction: Symptoms like swelling of the face, lips, or throat, difficulty breathing, hives, or rash can indicate anaphylaxis, which is life-threatening.

9. Loss of Consciousness: Fainting, blacking out, or prolonged unconsciousness should be evaluated to determine the underlying cause.

10. Severe Burns: Burns that cover a large area, involve the face or hands, or are third-degree burns need immediate medical care.

11. Persistent Vomiting or Diarrhea: Continuous vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours, especially with signs of dehydration, should be assessed.

12. High Fever: In adults, a fever above 103°F (39.4°C) that does not respond to over-the-counter medications, or in children, any fever accompanied by lethargy or rash.

13. Drug Overdose or Toxic Ingestion: Suspected overdose or poisoning with prescription or illegal drugs requires prompt treatment to mitigate harmful effects.

14. Mental Health Crisis: If someone is experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or is in a severe emotional or psychological state, they should seek immediate help.

15. Signs of Infection: Symptoms such as swelling, redness, warmth, and pus around a wound, along with fever, can indicate a severe infection that needs urgent care.
